my dad overtightened the drain plug on our 36 B and now you cant get it much more than finger tight without if falling out. is there any way i can fix this without a new head or can i gring some of the head where the plug goes in so it can get to god threads? i was looking at it and once you get up about a little more than 1/8 inch they look good. the threads on the plug are still ok too.

Andy:

You might go to your local friendly plumbing shop, amd borrow a pipe tap in that size.

Since it's a tapered thread, you might just make a turn or turn and a half, and have all new threads.

I taped out the drain hole in an AR because the threads in the head were shot. After tapping out the plug wouldn't tighten in good. I then got a short nipple and a cap and screwed in. This tightened in better than a plug.
