Has anyone had a problem with keeping the pto shaft bolts tight on these tractors and if so how did you resolve the problem(if you did)?
Also any problems with that pto pin in the transmission breaking? Heard it was a bear to fix. 8 hour job to put in a $1.80 pin is what I heard. Thanks for the info.

You got it on a $1.80 and $600.00 TO A $1.000.00 to put it in and 6 to 8 hour to split the tractor. if it is not broke then do what the other man said drill the bolt head and put a wire from one bolt to the other ones so they will not back out. I wish i hade taken time to do that and I was goint to just did not take the time. now guess what i got to do and .I will have time to do that If I ever won,t to run any power take off equipment again with that tractor and i will fix it .marvin

A friend of mine had a drawn chopper behind a 3010. He had the drawbar all the way in and the pto shaft of the chopper would compress all the way. It would then hammer the pto shaft. It sheared the roll pin and the tractor had to be doublr split to replace it.

I was told that a hole can be drilled, and tapped, for a pipe plug, in the right place,at the bottom of the transmission case. Then all you have to do is drain the transmission oil, remove the plug, and replace the pin.

Remove retainer bolts and drill small hole through head then thread a piece of baling wire through all the bolts to make a continuous loop. That usually works. As for the $1.80 pin the local JD dealer charges $1700 just to split tractor plus parts.
