Sure has been a lot of 50 carb. questions. My question for Clooney or others. Carb has been taken apart and cleaned several times but still can not get it to idle like we want. We think we have narrowed it down to the #2 side of the idle. Feel it is the passage from bowl up to horizontal passage. I know the jet is open and we can force fuel thru all other passages. Also how can you take out those little balls and re-install. Thanks for all hints. Next step will be a very large hammer. I admit we are very particular how a tractor runs.

We have a 50 and 60 that we had a similar problem with few years ago.The 60 would not run right, adjust carb, would run fine for awhile then act up again. cleaned carb,no difference, also new plugs. The 50 had been sitting all winter, put fresh gas in and started right up and ran good.Swapped carbs, now the 50 didn't run right.Swapped plugs and solved the problem. We use A C c88L plugs.Local dealer told me those old 2 bangers won't run on any other type plug for long. Seems the new plugs we put in the 60 were defective.. Hope this helps gerald

Larry Clooney can tell you better, He helped me with mine. I took carb cleaner with the little tube to the holes by those balls until I had it comming out the air jets. Then I drilled the smallest hole in those small freeze plugs and screwed a sheetmetal screw in, took pliers and pulled those plugs out. At the the other end by throat of carb run a wire through the hole. I soldered the plugs back up stuck them back in. Worked for me. Good luck Doug
