Need some help!I have a 60JD that keeps cracking flywheels at the center splines.I give up after number 3! The flywheels get loose and sure enough when you look at them they have cracks radiating outward from the center splines. The crank has a ton of play sideways. What is this and how do I take care of it?Thanks in advance.

Ron is right with the specs & advice - One VERY important part to torquing your flywheel is to make certain that your torque the wheel in 50 lb. increments, such that one side is not pulled tighter than the other too early in the process. This leads to stress on the iron and with the harmonic vibration, will cause the wheel to crack. I's never a bad idea to replace the bolts with new ones, helping to avoid stretch that will affect the actual torque. I've seen several cracked wheels on letter series tractors, where given the construction, it is nearly impossible to place 'even-torque' on the mounting boss, even with the Deere wheel wrench.

Sideways play, I think should be taken out by pulling the flywheel in with the flywheel nut..... Unless the bearings are shot... Remember, the 60 flywheel torques to 275 lbs... THAT is TIGHT...!!!!! Unless the splines are worn out..I think it sounds like you are not getting it tight enough... If you can hear ANY noise from the flywheel, it is Loose...!!!!! !!
