Just got my decals from Jorde and wondered if anyone had any documentation or can tell me the exact placement of some of them? I guess I know 'where' they all go. That is except the little '12volt" decal and the big tire pressure/size decal - have no idea where these two should be. Was just wondering if anyone had anything that could help so I get them on about where they belong. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for all the help. I found out from Tavis Jorde that the little 12v decal goes on the back of the battery box (rear of tractor) on right side just under the 12 volt accessory outlet - which I do not have on mine. Looks like another piece I will have to find!

I took tracings of the "50" on the forward side panels from my '53 50 s/n 5009570 before starting the restoration. Mine is an early model and, as such, did not have power steering.

Right side:
Top left corner of the "5" is 4 7/8" from bottom and 3 1/2" from the front edge of side panel.

Left side:
Top left corner of the "5" is 4 7/8" from bottom and 1 7/8" from the front edge of side panel.

Both are rotated approximately 30 degrees from horizontal if you drew an imaginary line under the bottom of the curve of the "5" and the "0" so that the "50" appears to be climbing to the right.

As mentioned before, the "JOHN DEERE" decal on the side of the hood begins 6" back from the joint between the front grille piece and the hood. It is centered in the recessed channel.

John Deere 50 models used two differant sized 50
numbers depending on their age.I don't know what
is being made I had mine on when I came across
some original tractors.Mine are wrong but don't know if anyone makes small ones,I'm sure they didn't back then. The early models I think with the
big oval holes in the back cast wheels used a smaller 50 placed more toward the front bottom corner of grille side, these tractors were made
before power steering was an option.Later ones used the more common 50 that JD sold in their sets
it's a little larger size and placed more in center bottom half of grille side and if tractor
had power steering that decal went directly below it.I don't think it went on cast frame until 520
models.I don't have traceings. Check with Jorde
or K & K If they don't know about two sizes
of #50 and I think even # 60 maybe they better
do more research. They may know as I haven't talked
to them on this matter.I've only seen tire label
on left side of battery box and 12 volt by outlet.

The tire pressure decal goes on the side of the battery box, you pick a side, I have an original 50 and its on the left side, also have an original 60, its on the right side. The 12v decal goes next to the rear electrical outlet on the side of the battery box.

If you get a diagram, I'd like a copy! I hope to paint mine and put new decals on it in the next year or so.

The little I&T manuals have a few pictures so they can get you started but I don't know if they are accurate.

Large JOHN DEERE on sides of hood start 6 inches back from the line dividing the grill and hood. The "50" numbers are difficult to get right. Their exact locations are specified in the "Decision" (John Deere's Marketing/Engineering documentation signaling the start of a new project) that started the 50. A full copy of this Decision is in the 2-Cylinder magazine issue that highlighted the "50" in about 1990 or 1991. Haven't placed all my new decals as yet so don't know where the "12 V" one goes.
