A friend of mine is looking to buy nad 820 tractor and he called a guy who has one for sale but it doesn't have a three point hitch on it. I know that John Deere put three points on the 720's and I thought they did on the 820's but the man who is trying to seel his tractor says John Deere never put the option of a 3 point on the 820. Is this true or is the guy just trying to sell his tractor?

Why John Deere did this,i would like to know myself. BUT there are (2) 820 tractors one, with a 2 cylinder engine, built from 1956 to 1958 They don't have a three point hitch. The other 820 with a 3 cylinder engine was built from 1968 to 1973 They look like a 1020 1520 or 2020 They can have a three point hitch, but i'm sure there are some with out it. The 3 cylinder engine produced 31 PTO hp They where manufactured at the John Deere Mannheim works in Germany

I believe there is a 3 cyl model of 820/830 that bears no resemblance to the 2 cyl version that may have a 3 pt.

Manuals on ebay sometimes are not specified as 2 or 3 cyl and you have to be sure what you are bidding on.

Ralph,

Make sure everyone is on the same page. The two cylinder diesel 820 built in the 50's never had a 3 point like Mark said. The newer multi cylinder (more than two) 820's built in the 70's (?) were smaller and had three point hitches.
