Hi There I have a '41 JD B and in the process of rebuilding the fanshaft I did not take off a keeper, however it shows in the shop manual to be right behind the split cone locks on the fanshaft end. Is there really suppose to be a keeper there, or is the picture I am looking at more of a generic one size fits all type. I am anxious to get the answer to this one since this is all I need to find out before the whole assembly is ready to be placed back on the tractor. Thanks gang!

~Scott, it depends on the fan style & if your fan has a friction drive.
~What do the split locks seat in on your current set-up? ~If they seat in the front of the fan (rubber hub & no friction disks)there isn't a keeper, if the fan uses friction disks it probably should have a keeper.
~If it has friction disks, make sure the keeper isn't just rusted to the front of the front drive disk.
