My JD 3020 drags my Farmall Super "C" all over the field. But I still have to run a disc-harrow over it to level it off!!

I am kind of a novice at this, but I have always had the impression that most tractors were used to pull some kind of accessory equipment such as a hay baler, plow, cultivator or other implement. Is pulling one tractor with another a new farming technique I haven't heard of? How useful and efficient is this method? Inquiring minds need to know!

Some comparable comments: "My Super H drags my Super C all over!" "My 2000 drags my 2N all over!" "My DC pulls my VAC all over!" or for those who only understand Deere: "My 4020 pulls my 1020 all over!" Pete

A 50 should out pull 420. Horse power is probably about the same but the 50 is heavier probably has more torque. It's a matter of the rubber meeting the road. HJ

I know he's not telling the truth, he's my brother. The truth is my 420 out pulled him from the start, heavier or not. I don't know if it's because there is a lower center of gravity on my wide front end W then his row crop tricycle or what, but it was truly no contest. The 50 just did not stack up....Nice try bro

You must be talking about a 420 garden tractor. No offense, but everyone knows 50's are rather weak tractor in the grand scheme of things.

So your saying the B is a weak tractor too since the 50 replaced the B..... funny how they sold over 300,000 of these weak tractors combined!

I guess the B did out sell the 50 many times over, look at how many years the B was in production compared to the three years the 50 was on the line. We had a 50 for a long time and we had a 430 they were both excellent machines doing the work that they were intended for. One thing about the 50 though, in a pinch, it could do the work our 620 would normally do only a gear lower.HJ

I have an idea, let's split the difference. according to Rummy's which I will concede as the authority, It listed the Fifty as being manufactured from 1953 THRU 1956. I also checked How long the B was on the line. The Bs were built from 1935 thru 1952, for a total of 17 years compared to 4 years for the 50. That was my point.HJ
