Bradshaw, I hope you got to watch a game something today, but I imagine you had all you could do watching all of us bite. I'd have to say the joke is on us.HJ

Do you have any source to quote concerning this misinformation, or is it just a product of an overactive imagination?

I work for John Deere at one of the factories, and I know that Agco is not going to buy us out. I don't know where you got that idea, but there's nothing even remotely true in that. If anything like this would take place, Deere would be buying somebody else, similar like they did with Timberjack earlier this year.

I would agree, John Deere is a 2 billion $ comp and it would take at least that much to buy it and the shareholders would have to agree first.

Well, as of Monday close, the market capitalization of DE(ere) was $10.364 billion, and AG(co) was $1.136 billion, or approximately the 1/9 the size of Deere.

They gonna have to sell a mess of those Challenger tractors to make that up anytime soon.

Here's the specifics
1) AGCO is taking over assembly and sales of the CAT Challenger tractors, not the Lexion combines
2) CAT now has AGCO dealers that can sell a full line of AGCO equipment to match up to the Challengers
3) Farmers now have local AGCO dealers that can sell parts to farmers so they can fix it themselves 4) By getting out of the tractor segment, Cat has one less thing to worry about, and can now concentrate on earth-moving equipment....again. History shows that Deere bought the old CAT combine line (Holt) in the 1930's for very little. In fact, the first Deere combines were nothing more than green Holts!
5) It's a win-win situation. AGCO has a decent tractor now, and CAT has decent ( and more) dealers to service and sell them. The best comes out of these arrangements.
