I just picked up a 730ES with all the desireable options. The flat top fenders have hand holds on both R and L fenders and the steering wheel while it is a JD is a little bit smaller than normal and looks like it could be off a 3010/4010.

Question is did Jd start using the RH hole fenders before the new generation tractors came out and also same question on the steering wheel.

Personally I dont care and I like the smaller steering wheel better but I would like to know for sure in case I get picked up by the "correct police" at some show.

The right hand fender should not have a hand hold in it. That's because logically you don't want to step up next to the belt pulley, and step around the clutch lever. A good body shop can fill that hole in for you, and you'll be the only one that will know. Deere started putting the hand hold in the right hand fender when the 10 series came out. The correct steering wheel can be located in some combine salvage yard. Good ones come from the old roundbacks ( 45, 55, 95) with cabs on them. They're getting hard to find now.
Does your 730 have front weights and a 3 point? To go all out, put these on. In my opinion, the wide front is optional. I've heard from many that they like the narrow front look.

I bet you can't either. Sounds like a good tractor. What are you going to hook behind it?

To Bill Will use a Jd 3btm semi mount that I used with a 620 and 630. The 730 should just play with it even in the Wisc clay

Someone has put those fenders on,they probably
are for a 3020-4020 etc.The originals didn't
have a rt hand hold. You can get the correct
steering wheel from several suppliers.

I remember that after the 30 series came out, Dad bought a set of 30 series fenders for his 620 and that the left fender had a hand hold and the right one didn't. I also remember that when it came time to put the front mount four row cultivator on they had to take the right side fender off. I guess it was because of clearance for the bar that worked off the rock shaft to raise and lower the front gangs. Later when he bought a 730 gas, the fenders were configured the same was, hand hold on left only.?
