I have a set of like new Bendix injectors for a 70 diesel, just wondering if these would work in my '56 720 if I needed to replace one..

thanks for the input, now I know the difference between the two JD models.. looks like I'll just save these for my 70 if I ever need to change them..

When I rebuilt my 70D, pistons were not available for it. So I used 720-730 pistons which have a different combustion chamber bowl. The angle of the injector tip nozzles is different also , the 70 has 5- .010 holes and the 720,730 has 6-.010 holes. The spray pattern of the tip is a smaller cone to fit the smaller bowl in the 720,730 pistons. You can get the nozzles at JD for the later pistons. you can use the 70 nozzles on 720,30 pistons BUT you will proably will loose some efficiency and a little hp. I used them for a while, and then I bought the 720,30 nozzles.I personaly couldn't see/feel the differance. Be aware that they had two suppliers of injectors,
American Bosch and schintilla(SP) the nozzles must match the injectors

70D's & green dash 720's used the same injectors & pumps.

70D used the AF2156R or AF2157R injector with the F2139R or R2587R spray tip and AF 3764R piston. 720 used the AR3439R or AF3440R injector with the F3210R or F3344R spray nozzle and AF3765R piston. They were different and had a different piston pocket so each used a different spray pattern injector and nozzle. RB

Call Electrical Services and Sales, Des Moines, IA
Have your present ones reworked, I wouldn't try to use the older ones. Cracking pressure could be different.

JD Guy, I am pretty sure they are different. The 70 pistons have a different bowl shape on the pistons and take a different angle injector tip. Deere used to recommend not doing this. The injectors themselves would work if you had the proper tips for them. Hope this helps. Mike
