i need some info on a 2550. i dont know the year, but i t has cab/air/heat/ and radio. has a model 175 quick-tach loader and looks real nice. its sitting up here at the massy dealer so i havent really looked at it to figure out the year just to see if its in good shape. it has around 3200 hours and has teh 8/2 tranny. are these any good? how do i know if its the top shaft synchrozier or not? he wants 17,500 and if it needs any work done to it they will do it for no extra cost so that sounds pretty good. i have a 67 2510 gas with roll-guard and loader which i really hate to get rid of but will trade for the newer tractor. what i need to know is it worth it and is that a good deal to be trading my 2510 off for something made in germany? thanks for the help....oh yeah hes coming out tomorrow to look at mine.

Sounds kind of high to me.That's not even the right loader for a 2550,the 175 is for a smaller
utility tractor,it's probably just been added.
A 2550 with a 148 loader will usually bring
13000 to 15000 if it's nice.A 2510 in good shape
will bring $6000 or better depending on gas, diesel, powershift and hours.

thanks guys for the comments, he came out and looked at it today and said he would take 11,000 and my tractor. i live in southwest missouri and do custome haying in the summer. we have a 3020 gas with powershift that i would like to sell and keep the 2510 with loader and get the newer tractor for bailing or mowing on hot days. we have 200 allis with cab and no ac so i know what its like not having enough ventalation o those hot steamy days. we use a d17 and the 2510 for mowing and raking or if squarbaling then use them since they are smaller. if you could gimme any more pointers on it that would be nice...i dont want to mess up and trade my tractor off for something i wont like and not get the 2510 back.... guys its more or less a sentimental deal on keeping the old girl.

John; 2550 sounds pretty reasonable especially when they will stand anything it needs. Price is in ballpark. If you can afford, I'd suggest you sell the loader off your 2510 and keep tractor as it is a nice item to have. They are certainly holding or even increasing in value and appear to be sought after. I would think if you have to sell 2510 you would get more money here in classifieds than dealer will allow especially since not Deere dealer.

John, I don't know what part of the country you live in or what you intend to do with the tractor. With that said, I'll give you the benefit of the brief experience I had with a JD2140. It is a short wheel-based tractor and rides very rough. The cab looks nice and the A/C is good on real hot days but it is very confining. But here in South Louisiana with the heat and humidity there wasn't enough ventilation when the A/C wasn't being used...then when you did use the A/C it was very cold. And as for the radio, you can forget it because the diesel engine noise was so loud that you couldn't hear it. I couldn't see well enough to do the close quarter bush-hog work that I was using the tractor for. So I just sold mine and bought a nice front end loader for my 3020. It was kinda like what the guy said about the two happiest days of his life...the one day when he bought his new boat and the other the day he sold it.
