My JD 950 is a good tractor. Today I tried to start it and nothing. No lights, no starter, no gauges,no nothing. It was like the battery was gone. Tried to boost it and nothing. My multi-meter showed 12V at the starter terminal but the starter motor does not run. I pulled it a few feet and it didn't start but after I pulled it I looked down and the dash lights were on, the gauges were working, etc. I turned the key and it started right up. What is wrong with my tractor?
Thanks! Paul

Paul, I'll agree that the 950 is a very good tractor but every so often, the neutral safety switches, one on each shifter and one on the PTO will deal us a fit. So far all that we have to do
is rattle the levers around a bit and every lights up.HJ

Thanks Jim, I'll watch for that problem. This time it was a pesky wiring problem around the starter. The + battery cable needed some attention also. All is well now. Thanks for the input! Merry Christmas.

And a merry christmas to you Paul, BTW on the subject of starters, have you had any trouble yet. Ours had a dead spot that we put up with for a while and finally brother inlaw took it off and to the shop and it worked great for a month or two but now it seems to be wanting to give us trouble again. Just wondering if ours was the only one.HJ
