the nose cone over the starter bindex has busted and all the parts have fel down into the bell housing. this is the second time this has happend. the starter was a new one and should be the right one for the engine, does any one know what causes this? am getting tired of pulling engine to clean out housing and check ring gear!
thanks charles

What usually causes housing breakage is the engine "kicking back" on the starter. This can be caused by the timing being advanced too far, or a cracked dist. cap. Also there is an outside chance that the starter is not kicking out once the engine starts or is engaging while the engine is running.

Just was wondering how you like your tractor when the starter is not giving you problems? is it underpowered? Looking at one but unsure about the 2 CYL motor. Seems small. Thanks Big City
