As per a post from Jim Cain a few days ago, I have a 41 model A with the same problem...exactly. I was hoping for a response from him if the suggestions given to him worked. I haven't been in the Magneto yet, but will do so this week. There is a snap, and a good spark, but as suggested, this might be a little weak. I know years ago whoever owned these tractors started them easier, so there's gotta be a solution.....

Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.

Tugboat has a point. When you are SURE that everything is set correct, and you have good blue spark, etc. . . you may then have to fiddle around until you get the right combination to get her to start up. Have a '44 B that likes half throttle, choked until it fires the first time.(usually about 2 turns) Then open the choke and she will fire right up on the next turn. Have a '40 H that likes throttle just above idle, choke for one turn, then open her up and she will fire on next turn. Have a '37 A that likes throttle about half way, full choke for two turns, then half choke the next turn and she fires right up. Took a lot of learnin' on all three to get combo right. I didn't need to workout for a while, especially when I was trying to learn on the A. You don't have to give that flywheel a very hard tug, just enough to bring her over compression with a little bit extra. The flywheel and the igniton will do the rest. Good luck.

Johnny; When you get everything right, as listed below, you may consider the following. My 38 B starts really well IF I do the following. I set the throttle just above slow idle. I Pull it over once with the choke closed. I open the choke and pull it over again. It will start right up. The most inportant thing with this B is to do everything slowly including pulling it over. If I try to pull the flywheel too fast I can pull it all day long and it won't start. As soon as I slow down she starts right up! I don't know why, but it works for my B and me!

What type of wire are on it they should be wire wires not carbon. How are the plugs are they gaped right, hows the timeing. Also don't feel bad as I might be asking the same question in a few days I just ordered a new Mag for my JD-B and I hope it will start like it did when I was a teenager, But with my luck it won't. LOL
