Who made the cabs that were used on JD 70,80's
That came with the tractor when it was new? Did John Deere make them or someone else? thanks

You might check with the phone company as I think these were recycled phone booths. Just kiddin!!
I used to run an 80 for a neighbor and I think it had a Hinker cab on it. Anyway I am pretty sure that they were all aftermarket and varied by region.I was working in a JD shop in 1970 something when the first Sound-Gard 4430 rolled off the truck. The old mechanic threw down his hat and said "Thats it I quit, ain't nobody can work on that."

I'm no expert. But I'm quite sure "The Egging Company of Gurley Nebraska" is what you are talking about.I researched this a while back thinking my tractor an( 830) was from a Gurley area dealer, but it turned out the tractor once had a cab on it and it was the cab company mentioned insignia on tractor. They are still in business but don't make cabs anymore.I think case used them also. Hope this helps.

Jonathan-----

As I recall, these cabs were dealer or owner installed and not factory installed. The 80 used a unit slightly modified from the one used on the R. I dont recall seeing such on a 70. I believe that, rather than being a John Deere manufacture, they were from a preferred supplier. Somewhere I have more on them and Ill try to pass it along in the next few days.

I rode in one of these cabs on an R a few months ago. Noisy, unheated, un-air conditioned, and hard to see out of, it was little better than an umbrella!!!

Not too bad in the winter, they concentrate transmission noise in the cab. I left mine in Canada rather than have it jerking on the fenders in a "60 MPH wind while being tranported here.
