I have a 630 JD serial # 6302352, I think it's a 1958. Where is the best place to get a service manual?

Paul

Paul, Your tractor [according to GREEN MAGAZINE] is a 59 model. Mine was shipped 9-23-58 but is a 59 model. There are no 58 model 630's. I just tell fokes when mine was shipped and let it go at that.Yours was shipped to New Orleans 10-30-58 then to Montgomery City, Mo.

My operaters manual, and parts book for my 630 wera bought in 1977 when I got the tractor and got pretty worn. This year I bought a new Ops and parts book from J.D. The parts book was O.K. but the ops manual was a BIG disapointment. It looked like some grade school kids took a old manual to a copy machine and enlarged the size and forgot to set the "light/dark" setting. You can hardly see the pixs. I have I&T manuals and are very helpful, but if you want to spend about $80.00 a J.D. tect book has much better pixs and goes into more detail. I have a 420,430,440, I&T manual but it doses not cover the tracks and under carrage., so about a month ago I got a J.D. tect manual for the crawlar. That has exallent pixs of better quility then the I7T manuals.

They should have an I&T manual at a local TSC (Tractor Supply) store, or an automotive store. Should be one covering 530, 630 and 730. They'll get you about $20. You might find one at a flea market, but those are kind of out of season now! Deere will probably have one, but they'll want alot for it. If you're doing any major work, I highly reccomend getting a parts book. Sometimes it's more useful than a service manual!
