Installing unstyled B hood question

I tore my unstyled B down for a rebuild (runs good now, Yea!) and wrestled with the hood for half a day and never could get it bolted down. The sheet metal on the back end of the hood (The end under the steering wheel) seems to not be long enough to go around the tank to allow the holes in the angle iron mounting bracket to line up with the holes in the tank support, but I know it is because I took it apart. Is there a trick to this? What kind of bolt and nut should I be using? Any special curse words required? I've used up all that I know.

My new 38 B Hood came from Denny Polk and although it was a tight fit, she finally bolted down. I got the nuts form Correct Connections and they are square if I recall under there. The only place I can think of that may make her tight is if you have too thick of that felt padding on the cross mount the tank sits on at the top of the governor. Good Luck PS the standard curse words got mine to work, maybe ur kids have some we aint heard that will work?????/ Ol John T in Indiana
