Where can I get a manual gas shut off. I now have one that works with oil pressure. Or are parts available for the oil pressure shut off. I think I could be leaking gas in the oil when tractor is running. Thanks for any help.

When the diaphragms in the automatic shut off go bad, the gas will definately leak into the crank case. About eight gallons drained into mine over a period of about three weeks after I bought it. Good thing I thought to check the oil level before starting it. I rebuilt mine with parts readily available from the local JD dealer for about $20 or so. Take the whole thing out of the gas tank and it is much easier to do. The two daiphragms and the little rubber seal that cuts off the gas is in the kit as I remember as well as the bowl gasket. I cleaned mine up to clean bare aluminum with my handy Dremel tool, reassembled it, cleaned out the threads in the tank, the brass tee, and on the shut off, and then permatexed everything together. I waited about two days before putting in gas and viola, no leaks and a perfectly good working shut off valve. You need to make sure the seat where the little rubber washer seals at is in good shape and don't forget the little manual actuator pin that turns the gas on with the manual screw knob. They must go back together right to allow you to fill the gas bowl manually so it will start. Screw the little knob down finger tight once the gas bowl is filled again. E-mail me if you need part numbers or more info. It is really not that bad.

The diaphrams are p/n A4983R. The washer that actually shuts off the gas inside the fuel bowl is p/n A4978R. They are still available as I put them on a customer's 70 a couple weeks ago.

Don, the parts to repair that oil pressure shut-off are (or at least were) available from deere & the cost was fairly reasonable.
