Dose any one know the name of the company and phone number that makes, what I will call for lack of the proper name, "MAKE-A-BELT". I need to replace the fan belt on my J.D.430 crawler wiht a front mounted hyd pump, and I really do not want to tare half the tractor apart to do it. When I bougth the crawler it had one of these "MAKE-A-BELTS" on the altanator and it has lasted a long time. I know I have a catalog with this belt listed, but can not find it. It is rubber links about 1/2" long and "button" them together to make as long a belt as you need, slip the links over the pulleys, "button thgether to make the belt and tighten the belt and your done.

I know what you're looking for. I've got such a belt on my Allis Chalmers dozer, and yes it really is a time saver. I had to look for my info, but I finally found it. I picked it up at the farm days in August.

It's called Accu-Link Adjustable Link V-Belt. You insert and twist the pieces together to make the proper length. They're available from JayDee Enterprises, Inc.;3465 Lost Nation Rd #15;Willoughby, OH 44094 Phone:800 989-0162 Fax:440 946-6148; email: [email protected] ; website: www.jdv-belts.com

I trust this will help!

Mike:

Those belts are now very popular with woodwrokers to take vibration out of their tablesaws.

Motion Industries, Bearings Inc., Dixie Bearings, should all have a brand available in the common widths.

I posted an example link.
