When charging 4-6 volts in series, do you set the charger on 6 volt or 12 volts? I know that the two 6's are conected but don't know what to set charger at. I have negative grounds with positive and negative conecting the two 6's. Thanks Ted.

Ted, you didn't say if the truck system is a 12 volt or 24 volt system (2 sixes on each side in series & each side in parallel=12 volt) Or all 4 in series=24 volt. In any case if you try to charge the batteries in series & you have one bad battery you will get a poor or no charge in the full system. If you have the time, & to be totally safe if not knowing the battery lay-out just charge each battery separately as a 6 volt battery.

Ted, I assume you have a 12 volt charger ??? So I would connect it across two of the sixes in series (12 volts) and charge them, and then charge the other two batteries same way. If you ahd a 24 volt charger, you could do all at once. Polarity is neg to the last (not the jumpered mid terminals) outer neg terminal and positive to the first pos term. Good luck Ol John T in Indiana

Hi Ted, your post is a little missleading but I gather you have TWO six volters and not four, correct? If you only have two and they are connected neg. of one to pos. of the other then you should have a neg. and pos. loose lead from the two, then you put the charger neg to battery neg and charger pos to battery pos and set charger to twelve volts, Gord.
