How to slow idle a 37B?

Just bought a rebuilt 37B. Has high altitude pistons, new vales - the lot, and it runs great. But previous owner increased the RPM so it won't idle slow without stalling. Is there any way I can get it to idle slow so it makes the classic, slow poom-poom sound? I know I have more important things to be doing right now, but there's nothing like a gentle two cylinder engine sound to reduce the stress of running a $100 million business!

David, you would start by seeing if you can do the simple idle stop adjustment there on top the throttle shaft where a horizintal screw bumps up against the spring/post. Are you able to manually turn the butterfly CCW all the way to the left to slow it down or does it hit against the spring/post but still idle too fast???? I would unhook the carb from the governor linkage (but be sure you have ahold of the throttle so she dotn over rev) to see if its a carb adjustment or governor problem that wont allow a slow idle. Once you see if its carb or governor problem, tehn post back. If the carbs idle passages are restricted, or you have a vacuum leak (maybe past trhottle shaft bushings) she wont run until at a higher RPM. Play with the throttle and governor and let us know. PS Have you tried adjustign the idle needle ?? If not try that also. Good luck Ol John T

Thanks John, I'll do all this on saturday. Carb was rebuilt so passages should all be clean. We shall see.
