I have a 1949 JD B and am looking for some suggestions on implements. I'm interested in a mower (#5?), a plow (probably a 2X12 or 2X14), a bailer, and a rake of some sort. I would like any suggestions you may have on models or types. I would prefer JD. I would like to get the manuals on these implements before I go to purchase them. (I bought the manual for the tractor 6 months before I bought the tractor) Some suggestions on model numbers, price ranges, and where I can get the manuals would be greatly appreciated.

You're right about a No. 5 Mower. A No. 44 2-14" plow would be right. A 14-T baler makes a nice matchup for your B. Rake? I don't know, since our rake was a converted horse-drawn one. It was a Deere, though.

Which manuals are you interested in? Operator's? Shop Manual? Parts Catalog?

Stan

I would like the operation manual and the parts manuals.
Thanks in advance,

Scott, here are the books you need.

No. 5 Mower: Operator's Manual is OMH10156. Parts Catalog is PC466(01OCT56).

No. 44 Plow: Operator's Manual is OMA1352. Parts Catalog is PC402(01MAY59).

14-T Baler: Operator's Manual is OME16470. Parts Catalog is PC426(01MAY64)

The dates on these may not be the latest, although I suspect that they are. My Service Publications catalog is 5 years old.

Call 1 (800) 522-7448 and have your credit card handy. I have no idea as to the cost of these manuals.

I have a lot of hours on a '52 B using all the above implements and it was nothing but fun. Of course I was only 19 or 20 years old and didn't get out much.

Good luck,

Stan
