Fenders for A

My dad has a 1949 JD A. I would like to buy some fenders for it for Christmas. I have seen ads for styles such as clamshell, round top, and flat top. Can anyone tell me which one would have been factory standard in 1949 for an A? I would also like to know where I can get some if any of you know of a good vendor.

The 49 with the round axles would have had the flat top. If desired an adatpor was available to put the clamshells on it. Several vendors are selling repo's and the adaptors. Expect to pay $300 and up plus shipping. E-Mail me for some phone numbers. Russ

When I hear "flat top fenders", I am thinking of the fenders that came on my 2510. These are not the same fenders are they? can anyone reference a picture possibly on the photo adds or e-mail me some pictures of the different types that could have been on the A?

Go to photo ads and search for fenders, there is a set of flat top, that would be similar to what you need. What I call flatops, are flat, about 12 inches wide and rounded down in both front and rear. Russ
