Bought a 60 and I had the flywheel tightened about a 1.5 yrs. ago. Suddenly excessive vibration occured at 1/4 throttle and above, and a knocking sound from the clutch area showed up.
Took it to a repair shop, explained the loose flywheel, but they said it needed a clutch dics. replacement, that it would take care of the knock. It didn't. Still waiting for a solution...help..

JD, did they even look at the flywheel? Your knock could very well be a loose flywheel & the noise usually sounds like it is coming from the clutch side. If the flywheel is still tight then you might have internal problems like loose rod or main bearings or other problems. Try to explain as much as you can about the noise such as.... when, what kind, how intense, hot/cold/both, pulling, idling, clutch in/out, once, twice or every other revolution or anything else you can think of.

Clooney, thanks for the reply....they have the tractor and heard it run...they replaced the crank bearing on the clutch side, replaced the fork, and then the disc's. The drive disc. has been reworked (welded etc.), I point blank asked if it should be replaced and they said it shouldn't be the problem, now they're saying that it is the crank splines and the drive disc...but still haven't looked at the flywheel, it shakes just like before it was tigthened the first time, I have heard that there were some cases that a farmer would have to tighten them up every 6 months...what can prove that it is the flywheel, dumb question, but I can't wiggle it, does that mean anything...it shakes/vibrates cold or hot..and then there is a knock in the clutch area when the engine fires hard...I hate to rebuild the engine over a loose flywheel, know what I mean..
