I have a 2510 with the power shift transmission. It was towed for a short distance without disengaging the transmission. Now 1st, 2nd, 6th?, 7th and 8th gears don't work. I pulled the valve for the C1 clutch and everything looks clean and is free moving.

Do you think it is the C1 clutch? Any tricks of the trade in replacing it? Also, does anybody know the approx cost of parts that would be needed?

Thanks

Without knowing the exact problem. This is a bad case estimate not a wrost case. If you do the work yoursef figure $4000 for parts. Hope it is less.

Rusty, If the tractor was towed very far at any speed the cost of parts for a little screw up like that could be devastating. Towing a power shift without disconnecting the tow collar would also more than not likely damage several if not all the planetary brake elements in the rear of the transmission as well. Without taking the transmission down for a inspection you will probably never know just how bad the damage is. Nothing that can not be fixed as parts are available but we are not talking in the hundreds rather the good possibility it could be in the thousands. Even if you are fluent in the repair processes and can do the work yourself the parts will bit you big. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but there will be no good story when you tackle that one. I am very familiar with these transmissions and made my living working on them for many years if you have more question let me know and I would be happy to help. If you decide to part the tractor I may be interested in it for parts. Is it a diesel? Good Luck on what you learn and find. Dave W
