I'm an italian farmer and I own a JD combine which was very common a few years ago in Italy and across Europe(I guess). The model name is 730 special and it was built in 1968. I earched something about in internt, but I just found that an american JD tractor used to have the same name. I'd like to know if someone of you american farmers have ever heard talking about, or seen, or owned a combine called 730.
Thanks

Stefano, the 730 combine was built in Europe, and never sold in the United States, though there was some limited sales in Canada. The 730 was pretty much based on the 105 combine sold in North America, with some changes for European conditions. The 105 was one of the best combines ever made in it's day.

Thank you very much for your information. I seearched some 105 photos and what I found isn't very similar to my combine. Expecially for the cab, the two combines are quite different.
Perhaps the 730 was been based on 105, but I think that it was a different project.
One thing is the same for both of them: my 730 probably was the best combine at its days, and, still nowadays, it's more productive and reliable than other modern combines, even if it's surely less comfortable (I still use it in my job). If any canadian farmer had something to do with a 730, I would be glad to hear from him.
Sorry for my english, it's not my native language.
