There is a hexagonal bolt below the flywheel on the side of the main case, assuming this B is built before 1950 and this bolt unscrews a few turns. If oil comes out of the weep hole, you have enough oil in the motor. Since you just got it, might be a good idea to loosen the drain plug below the crankshaft on the botom of the main case and make sure you don't have water in it too. Once you get your book for it, you will want to change out your oil and filter but be sure to not tighten that oil filter bolt any tighter than just where it doesn't leak oil and replace that rubber ring if it appears cracked. If you overtighten the oil filter bolt, you can crush the filter housing causing oil pressure loss and cause major learning experiences fixing it.

I am curious-how do you check the oil level on a B built 1950 or after?

I don't have a B that new and am not sure. I have a 50 A and it has a little dipstick on the side of the main case. Leroy was right about the check being on the pulley side when they have starters. I only have hand start B's and forgot that detail. That is one of the things I like on this board when people are nice and understand that some of us are learning even as we attempt to help others out.

On all A or B tractors with starter the check is on the pully side, flywheel side would be under flywheel (ring gear cover) and not accessible

Should be a brass oil check cock on either the LH or RH side of the crankcase, ahead of the flywheel or clutch, respectively. Fill with oil until it drips from check cock.

The oil check cock on my 50 "B" is not brass, however it is on the pulley side exactly as described above. I don't think it is brass on my brother's 52 "B" either.
