Cold Starting...

If you remember about a week maybe 2 weeks ago I posted a topic on how my 1950 B wouldn't turn over, it would pop once or 2x and then stop. Well I find that this only happens in the cold. It's about 45 degrees out. It's a new engine, new everything pretty much. So how would I start this tractor in the cold?

Thanks,

Karl

Well Karl, first you get an "H" then a flat belt!!!..... All kidding aside, if your problem only occurs cold maybe the carb choke isn't closing all the way due to a bent choke plate of missing little trap door in the plate. (it is worth a look). You might try a little thinner engine oil until it has fully broken in also. Sometimes it helps to open the idle mixture screw 1 extra turn until it starts then turn it back to where it was. Try different throttle settings & different choke settings to see if you can find the correct combination to get it started. If none it this helps you might be fighting a poor spark due to condenser or coil problems or other mag/distributor problems.
