I'm in search of a set of working shutters for a styled 41B. I was quoted a price of $125.00 for a set and I thought that was to much to pay. I've got a set, however they are froze by rust and have not had any luck in getting them undone from all the rust. Or does anybody have any ideas on how to get them to free up?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Dan

I tend to stay away from sand blasters ,in my opinion if you are not careful you will do more damage than good.I reuse my automatic transmission fluid its simalar to using Mystery oil,and waste product once it used ,you mind as well recycle it again and then properly dispose of it.I generally warm up a heavy part with propane torch, and then sit it a bucket of this oil and let it soak.Since this part is made up thin material,I would use a larger pan than needed with a small amount of oil in the bottom(just enough to cover the part)I would slowly warm up the oil on the woodstove, (not boiling)just warm, using my welding gloves to remove it from the heat, sit it on the floor and gently put the entire part in for bath, letting it soak in the warm oil, later when it cools down.I will sit down at the bench and using a small wire brush getting into all the cracks and throughly clean it,then seeing if i can gently move the louvers.

I have un-froze several, I start out by power washing, then sandblasting, then powerwashing, then penetrating oil, and gently tapping on the top and working with a set of vise grips on the lever. Russ
