I purchased a 620 gas a few mos back, it needed a new intake/exhaust manifold which I replaced. It seemed to run ok for about a month then started to miss, backfire, and will die after it get warmed up, 10-15 minutes and about 140*F. At idle it runs good, open the throttle and the problems start. Starts good hot or cold. Carb is adjusted per the owners manual and carb has gas when it dies. I replaced the plugs, points and condensor but the problem continues. I think the problem is in the fire. Coil or plug wire maybe??

I just had the same trouble with my 520...!! It had new points, plugs, Condenser recently... I got out my Condenser tester, and sure enough, that New Condenser was BAD...!! Best thing I ever got from my local Antique Tractor Club...!!! You could also have a coil, ballast resister, or loose wire, but I'd check that condenser again...If it aint Echlin, I'd throw it away anyway...!!!

I go along with Wayne on the heat setting of the maniford. My brother-in law heplped a young guy get a 520 and after they got it home, it acted the same way as your 620 is acting. It took a lot of heat with a rose bud on a torch and tender loving care. but it is running good now. It's covered on page 78 of the operators manuel. It should be set on the "HOT" setting only for light loads and below 32 degrees air temp. For conditions full load in which the engine has a tendency to detopnate set the heat control valve to "COLD". In Wisconsin you would be had pressed to find a JD that isn't set to "COLD" and rusted there. Thats were the local dealers set them and told guys to leave it alone and forget about it.

Just an idea, have you checked for and intake leak, sounds like when it warms up you maybe getting an air leak at the intake. It could also be the coil but I tend to think about what was just replaced you may need to retighten the intake studs. Hope this helps some

Justin, I am not a hand-clutch guy, but a 60 has a big valve in the exaust manifold, that is supposed to be set for hot or cold weather, maybe that is your problem after it warms up, It may be set in the wrong position.
