Back in Sept I asked the same question what do I need to do to rewire my tractor? So that I can convert my 60 from a generator to an altinator. Mr Clooney answered my question but I missed placed the information Sorry.

J Going, this is a re-print of the original.....You will have to swap the battery cables at the battery (to be negative ground), swap the wires going to the ammeter (leave the wires the same just swap from side to side (post to post), leave the starter alone it will work fine, swap the wires on the ignition coil to have the negative terminal going to the distributor & positive to the ignition switch, remove the generator & regulator (save for re-installation at a later time), the gas gauge should work ok without any changes.. There should be (1) white wire that went to the old regulator & that gets hooked to the big BAT terminal on the back of the new alternator (I'm assuming you are going to use a Delco SI-10 alternator), if the alternator is over 45 amps you should run a new 10 gage wire from the alternator to the amp meter & from the amp meter to the battery (the original isn't heavy enough gage for a high output alternator at full output)....If you install a (1) wire alternator that is all you need to do (follow directions that come with the (1) wire alternator for initial energizing of the alternator, or post back for directions)...If you are using a (3) wire Delco SI-10 (older G.M. original equipment) you will also have to run a wire from the (ign) terminal of the ignition switch with a 10 ohm 2 watt resistor & 50 volt 1-2 watt diode in it to the # 1 terminal of the alternator & a jumper wire from the BAT terminal on the back of the alternator to the # 2 terminal of the alternator. I don't currently have a wire diagram of an alternator conversion for a J.D. 60 but if you decide to install an alternator, post back or E-Mail me & I will draw you one (tell me if you have an early or late 60 [or give S/N] & if it is all-fuel, LPG or gas & if you are using a Delco SI-10 1 wire or 3 wire).
