When I first saw that lever, I didn't know what it was, and I yanked it after i'd taken it off, and the ball bearings flew out (AAAAA AAAAA !!!) was what I thought, but:
Undo both bolts at the sides of the springs, the head is Allen Key type, and you can undo them from the outside.
Put the lever into the casting, push one ball bearing into the hole where you took a spring out, put the spring in, and then the bolt. Do the same for the other side, and don't tighted them up all the way.
Attach the casting back again, move the lever, if it feels slack, tighten the two bolts. If it feels too "rigid" or stiff, slacken the two bolts.
Hope you can understand this, i've only done it once, and from an 1120, hope I'm talking about what you are talking about!
If you need help, just yell.
