Ray, it depends on what is tight. If just rings it will loosen up as soon as the rings break in, if something else is tight then it will depend on what it is. On the hitting only once it could be a weak coil in the mag or just using the wrong starting procedure. Try different throttle settings, & choke settings to see if that will help. I had an old "A" with a power block that would hit once then require about 20 more flywheel turns with no choke & WOT to start it, with some trial & error I found that one turn with the choke on full then one turn with the choke on 3/4 then the next turn with the choke on 1/2 it would start almost every time.

Make sure your mag is up to snuff. If it only pops once and doesn't carry over it could be weakness in the mag. Used to crank one of those monsters when I wasn't very big or tough. They are just like Wonder Bread, they build strong muscles. Seriosly, try belt starting, if that works ok, check mag.
