A friend needs help on a 620 he has that apparantly is getting fuel in the oil and separately has an issue with loosing power steering fluid. I don't have one of these new tractors so I need to find out what all I am looking for when I go see the tractor. I suspect the sediment bulb either leaks gas to the carb and then on to the motor or else leaks back into the oil pressure line to the crankcase since I hear these have a pressure valve on the gas line. Is it possible for gas to go back in the pressure line when the tractor is not running? How do I correct it? I thought about going with the old style hand turn off valve kind of sediment bulb. Power steering for these tractors is a whole new deal I have not dealt with. Where should I be looking for this leak. If he isn't leaking somewhere obvious, is there a seal somewhere that tends to go out? I heard about the fuel in oil deal some months ago and suggested he try to remove the sediment bulb glass and see if that stopped it and change the oil. I think he tried that but not sure. If he did try it, the only way has to be the oil pressure line right? This tractor is a work tractor that does'nt get used daily anymore. Thanks for any suggestions.

Trying to recall but isn't there a seal in the back of the PS pump on the front end of the fan shaft? If it leaks, I think the oil will run back the fan shaft tube to the ventilator & make its way to the crank case. I'm on REAL thin ice here so check up on this idea in a book before you grab any wrenches! Right now it's just that, an idea.

Jerry, you are probably correct on the gas leaking through the oil pressure shut off diaphragm & then through the oil pressure line & into the crankcase. Yes they usually leak more when the tractor is not running, when it is running the oil pressure keeps the gasoline from leaking through the oil line. Where is the oil leaking from on the P/S, if it is leaking on top of the ft axle or in the ft bolster area it is probably the "O" rings on the bottom of the pedestal (a big repair job as the pedestal has to come completely apart)
