Found a 1970 3020d widefront, 1 remote, snychro, differential lock, side console, and excellent sheet metal and new paint. Asking price is $12,500.00. The seller (local tractor salvage yard) says it has a new motor, just not sure if his definition means actual new motor or just a rebuild! I will be checking this further. Is this too high, even with a rebuild or new motor for a 30+ year old tractor. I checked dealer prices on John Deere's www.machinefinder.com and it seems too high. Comments or thoughts please.

THE GOING PRICE FOR 3020 IN WISC FROM J.D. DEALERS IS $7000 TO $8000 AND 4020's ABOUT $10,000. ALTHOUGH AWHILE AGO THE J.D. DEALER AT KUEL WISC HAD A LOCAL ONE OWNER A-1- FOR $12,000.

Successful Farming Mag said that a 4020 console with 595 hours went for 29000. I'd do a lot of checking about where the motor came from, and how many hours the tractor actually has. My 3020 1s on it's third speedometer. I lost track of hours.

Sounds real high to me. Of course I paid $4200 for my 3020 (working condition, no showroom condition). I would steer away from it, personally. Just my opinion though.

There's a JD 3020 shown in the Photo Ads for $6000.

thats nothing. around here one just like that and an asking price like that would be gone in an instant! i ha ve seen several 3020's go on the block and bring 7-14,000(it had a new loader and that was it) so i dont think thats to bad.....i know i would liek to get that outta mine but i doubt it. john

$12,500 sounds like the price of a sterling, low hour 3020. I would expect a tractor with c.a. 2000 hours with virtually no wear visible on the clutch pedal, 3-point linkages and drawbar. With fresh paint it is hard to determine how much Bondo is under the paint.

I agree that this seems high for a "salvage yard" tractor. If this was a low hour (under 2000 original), unblemished powershift, dual valve, wide front, diesel, perfect tin, near perfect original paint, factory cab, everything works tractor with brand new rubber, batteries, and a fresh oil change, it would STILL bear some thought. If it an orchard or high crop, that price might be real good, but if it is rowcrop (it's serial number starts with T113) it sure sounds expensive.

I'd be interested in one of those 2000 hour
3020 diesel consoles in that 12 or 13 thousand
range if you know of one.I've got an original
3020 gas with 2695 hours,wide front,2 remotes
I'm going to sell. Thanks.
