Sounds like that the tractor is not getting into park all the way and when resistance is applied to it, it is forcing itself out of park. What can happen and is fairly common is when work is performed on tractors at dealerships it is common to steam clean or power wash them off, moisture from cleaning will get into the park cable resulting in rust causing cable to drag. If the cable has to much drag on it, the pull spring under the dash may be stretching prematurely not allowing full movement or stroke of the park cable resulting not getting the park in a full engage latched mode. Remove the dash cowl and check to see if cable is moving it full travel, also check that the park cable clevis pin is in the correct hole in the control arm of the park lever mechanism. The main thing to check whatever the cause is that the cable is traveling far enough to rotate the arm on the side of transmission to a full forward (engaged) position. If arm on the side of the transmission is being rotated full forward and tractor is still moving in park your problem is inside the transmission. The top transmission cover will have to be removed to see what is wrong. You may find that the roller has come off the park pawl arm and will need to be fished from the bottom and reinstalled with new retaining hardware. See what you learn. Good Luck, Dave W.

Again WTW right on the mark. I'd Like to add that the cable turns a cam inside the Trans case. when one goes out of park the lobe lifts the park pawl. When you go into park the lobe goes down and a inner spring pulls the pawl down. The spring under the dash is foe when there is too much pressure on the pawl like parked on a hill. It allows on to put the trans in "gear". With the pawl engaged. If you are pointed downhill put the trans in reverse and the pawl will be released by the spring tension under the dash.

You might need to look into adjusting your linkage first. Then if it still doesn't work properly look at the shifter under the dash for excessive wear. I would look at the transmission last. If your John Deere dealer did the repair then they should warranty their work. Most parts carry a 90 day warranty through Deere anyway. I would think that having a transmission rebuilt would mean that park should work properly also. Good luck.
