A buddy of mine has a 520 and no mater where the steering wheel is, if you let go, it goes all the way left. I'm a automotive mechanic, but I've never worked on tractors.

Chuck is exactly right. This valve he's talking of is on is on the right side of the pedestal where the steering wheel shaft connects to the steering pedestal. If when you get done, it wants to steer easier one way than the other, you'll probably need to make a series of adjustments. Set the worm shaft to ZERO lash by removing shims & lightly reinstalling the bearing cap. Adjust the operating valve's travel to specifications (don't remember setting right off) using the adjusting screw under the pipe plug near the steering shaft. Stake the screw. Then set the worm shaft free play, center the valve housing & they'll ususally steer pretty well. If you don't have a dial indicator available, forget it. Just a few thousandths can make a big difference on these units.

you need to remove the nose. Then loosen 4 bolts, not fully loose, tap the control valve till the wheels center. You might jack up the tractor and you can get a closer reeding on centering. Be sure to tight the valve. Doesn't take much movement of the valve to make the wheels move.
