Have rebuilt several of the power steering units but have one on a 530 that is aggravating. I rebuilt the seals in the pedistal like so many before, no problem there. The steering seems lazy like the valve and worm part isn't activating properly, it didn't seem to want to return to center as smooth as my other tractors so I took the control unit apart. I reverse the little pins so there would be no wear area but it still seems lazy. I have another unit I can rebuild, would you have any light to shed. Adjusted the end play properly. Can the shaft going in bind some on these? Know your expertise and any tips would be appreciated.

I adjusted the end play on the shaft going through the worm. Snugged it up so pins could move the collar back and forth. I'm going to get new bearing and I have another unit has a better worm gear. These used parts I guess I will have to keep adjusting, but the long extension with the bushing may be binding a little, will check alignment. My pressure is ok. Did you check out the 50 I have on auction on ebay.

Chuck, did you adjust the width of the helix? If it is too wide it will make the steering sluggish. This is assuming the pressure is ok. Hope this helps. Mike
