Just wondered if anyone had ran a 60 against a 620 in a tractor pull. Does the smaller size of the 620 motor loose any thing to the 60?

Unless you are limited by the 620 age, I would go with the 620. Strip the three point and other extras off and go. You have a 10 horse advantage without doing any mods. I've got both, and like the 60 a lot, but the lower compression design will not preform with the 620.

Dick, I don't know the specific answer, but we pull a stock 70, occasionally we run into a pull where you are classed by plow bottom rating, which throws us in with the 720's...we are not very fond of that situation! She does well against
most other tractors in the pre 1960, stock classes, but 720's make her tuck tail and run.

Sorry Dick, overlooked that you were referring to tractor pull. You may have something there as the 620 added a lot more weight. I've pulled a couple of 520's and own a 50 all stock. Wouldn't want to put any money on the 50. Maybe a 60 beefed up would more than outdo a 620 and maybe you can't get the weight down on the 20 series tractor due to design.

don't know why your opinion of 620 is less than that of 60. It is much more tractor with advanced hydraulic and about 20 percent more horsepower.

Chuck:
I believe the key thing here is that Dick said "tractor pull". With a puller, the better hydraulics would be deleted, so would the better pto, the bigger displacement would become more important, as the increased rpm of a 620 can be overcome by speeding up the 60 engine from 975 rpm to whatever you can get it up to. The power steering, better seat, etc also do not necessarily matter much if you only drive it for 100 yards. For REAL FIELD work, there is no question about the superiority of a 620 over a 60, but so many people want only to pull with their antiques.
