This is on a JD A ser 609527. I have removed the clutch from the inside of the pully and worked the pully lose on the crank shaft with the clutch lever. In hind sight I think this was the wrong thing to do because I cannot get the pully back to its home position so I can get the clutch fork removed. What do I do? I can't get the fork out so I can't get the pully off.

Andy, I can't give you the exact answer you are looking for but believe if you remove the rod running between the hand lever & fork shaft, then work the clutch pulley in & out while trying to follow it with the clutch fork shaft it might slide into a position that will allow the pulley to be pushed back in.. Once the pulley goes back in [assuming it will] you should then be able to remove the 4 bolts & remove the fork bearing housing...

Clooney If I were installing the belt pulley with with the fork assy removed is there anything that has to lined up or be in place to get this belt pully all the way in to home position. It sounds like you think that maybe the position of the fork is preventing it from going home.

Andy, nothing to line up except make sure the gears mesh.. If it won't go all the way in make sure the drive gear is all the way on the pulley hub.. Once the pulley is all the way in, reach in with a screw driver & make sure the sleeve is moved as far as possible towards the engine..

~When installing the fork, MAKE SURE it goes in the operating sleeve slot & not between the sleeve & pulley [a common problem]..
