I was at an aution this past saturday (South of Litchfield Mn) that had a few JD tractors (couple IH's as well). An ok shape JD60 went around $1500, a good JD M $2600, and a very good original JD L (LA??) went for $11,000 to the local JD dealer. I didn't catch the other JD tractors, wife wanted to leave. The interesting item on the L was the autioneer stating only 1500-1600 being produced, looking at the numbers associated in the link on production counts has a much higher value.

G sn 52813 $5700 nice, unrestored
G sn 11271 $4400 restored
A sn 455131 $1550 restored. w/fenders
A sn 422919 $2700 restored
A sn 425508 $2450 unrestored, round spokes
4960 RW4960P002935 $61,000
630 sn 6312571 $1650 very rough,straight tin

720D S sn 7227688 $5150 very nice restored

THRESHING MACHINE, John Deere, in like new restored condition $1900

This was a retirement sale. I find it hard to believe that the owner actually sold SOME of these pieces---the 720D Standard for example, or the Threshing Machine!

It was an early 70. sn 7003564, it had a Char Lynn power steering unit, was round tube wfe, live pto, live hydraulics, good tires, a new block and head, and was sold the previous day (it was a two day sale, I wasn't able to attend the first day) and the price , arround $3100 is only aproximate---the owner didn't readily recall or at least wouldn't say what it brought except that it was "around" $3100!

I was at the Columbia City, Indiana sale on Saturday and watched a 1938 unstyled L sell for $8000.00. So I guess $11,000.00 isn't too hard to believe.

Was this an unstyled L ? If so the 1500 figure is in the ball park. I can't imagine a styled L bringing $11,000,,, $11,000 !! maybe I should think of selling mine !!

Had a chance to buy one of those puppies about 25 years ago for $500. I thought the man was crazy. Oh well you know what they say about hindsight.
