Hello, green people. I just bought my first green tractor, a 1967 (I think) 2510 diesel with narrow front end and front end loader. I have a few questions: Fist I would like to know what year model it is. I have found several tags that appear to have been serial tags, but I am not sure which one to use. Next, I think that the clutch is shot. I was going down my driveay which is pretty level and then started going up a slight incline. The RPMs stayed the same but the speed dropped because of slipping. I let off the throttle and it engaged again. Is there any hope for my clutch just needing an adjustment or is it time to split the monster? It also has had a charging problem for about the last 12 years, ( my grandfather was the second owner of this tractor since 1970), where do I start?

I'm not for sure because I've never fooled with a 2510, or 2520, but I've had occasion to fool with 3020's and a 4020 rowcrop tractors. If the 2510 is set up similar, there should be a clutch adjustment nut, that can be loosened, and allow you to reset your clutch peddle for the recommended 3/8 to 1/2 inch of clutch peddle free travel. From what I'm hearing from you, it sounds like your peddle is all the way back with no free travel. If that's the case loosen the nut, slide the clutch peddle forward, so that it has the proper free travel, tighten it back up, and take it for a test ride. If after adjusting it properly if it doesn't hold or if you have used up all the adjustment slot, I'd make plans to go ahead and split the puppy, and stick a new clutch plate in. I hope things work out, and I'm sorry about not being able to explain things better, but it's monday morning, and I'm not able to access my brain cells yet. Later, Greg H.

keith i own a '67 2510 gas with factory wide front, loader and canopy i bought mine a year and a half ago for 5400 bucks. mine was used on a chicken farm for 7 years and i think it bout done my clutch in. On yours does it NOT engauge until the clutch pedal is 3/4 of the way released? mine does that but have bot tried adjusting it. get the owners manual or if you would like i could copy my origional off and email it to you? also if i were you i would be looking for a schwarts wide front or remanufactured widefront, with a loader ande narow front it wouldnt take much for it to go right over, i have seen this happen not a pretty site, or at least buy a roll-gaurd from jd. if you would give me the serial number i can get the year of the tractor for you. just email me at [email protected].

around here a gas 2510 brings alomost what a diesel 2520 with loader brings. i am in the process of looking for a 72 or 73 2520 diesel. if you or anyone else knows of one around give me a holler or drop me a line.
