I went out today to plow a field today with my 1948 D. I had made a few rounds in the field when I lost one cylinder. I checked the plugs and they seemed to be looking as if they were firing. I use Motorcraft TT 10 Plugs. I regaped the plug and checked the points gap, went back to plowing. About 1 more round plowing and the right cylinder died again. So I put AC 75 plugs in the D. It made 2 rounds and the right died for the third time. Thats when I found the right plug wire had the insulation missing in the wire holder below the fuel tank. And the radiator has a small leak just above the missing insulation. Strange how missing insulation and a small water leak can cause such a headach. I replaced the wire and it has not quite yet except when I burried the D in a wet spot in a sandy field. Yep clean to the transmission case. Oh well I guess the good Lord does not want me plowing today. Suppose to rain tonight and tomorrow.I guess I will get the 420 out and try to pull the D out of the sand.

Bad luck with the D. I had the MT charged with a 16 foot trailer collecting some fire wood. Neihbor kids rode by and asked that I come back to a 40 acre patch and check out some trails they were using with their ATV's. After I had maybe 1500 lbs of wood, I started down the wooded path to the 40 acre patch. Up a steep incline, found my path blocked be a felled tree.Knew the brakes wouldn't hold on such an incline, especially with the load. Best option was to leave clutch engaged and blow through tree branches. Cost me a stack muffler.
