You may want to hunt up a local machinist who would be willing to rework all the slack and slop out of your clutch linkage. Ask local tractor folks and farmers and they may have a good reccomendation for you. My '46 "A" came to me with tons of slop at every point in the linkage. I found a little ancient machine shop down the road who is now re-doing the entire linkage (clutch lever pivot, connector pivots, clutch brake, etc.) by boring out each hole and bushing them, all for only $60!

Maybe I'm lucky, but I think these guys are out there to be found.

I took my stuff to Anderson Machine, in Rosholt, WI. If you want their #, post here and I'll add it.

My Deere dealer can still get the parts new. The two come to $300.00. Depends if you want to mess around with the old parts or just pay for new. I have a 43B. Yours takes the same parts.

dozer, I have repaired lots of these with steering shaft bushings that are used in tractors like the 620, 630, 720, 730 John Deerees. You will have to take the hole out some but not that much. I did mine with a hand reamer. Ussally the John Deere dealers have these bushings on hand. Good Luck, Dave W.

Dozer, there is no production bushing available. I think you will find the wear on the clutch fork shaft & brake arm is egg shaped & tapered so just installing a bushing will not work. The brake arm will probably have to be bored out & a standard sized bushing can then be pushed in, those bushings are available in most farm type hardware stores. I usually just bore the brake arm enough to clean the hole up then make a brass bushing to fit the shaft O.D. & arm I.D.
