Is it gas or deisel, electric or pony start? Did you hear it run? Does it have 3PT, power steering, wide front end? A 720 is probably worth 1200 as a parts tractor, but what do you want it for? Many of these tractors were used to the last gasp. If the flywheel is loose on the crank, the clutch discs are shot in the PTO, the pumps and injectors are leaking, and the engine or engines are due for an overhaul, you are looking at a major pile of money to get it right. If at all possible I would recomend having someone familiar with these tractors look it over for you. Certainly you should drive it and find out as much as you can about the steering, PTO, clutch, and hydraulics. I own two 720D's and wouldn't part with them, but believe me, nothing is cheap to fix on these tractors.

It has electric start, gas, 3pt, power steering, narrow front end. I will drive it before I buy, but I think I'd be safe at this price, would you agree?

Yes, I think a gas tractor in running condition with usable tires is a good deal at 2000. Just be sure to check the flywheel splines.
