What is the repuutation of the JD 401 B model? I believe it was based on a 2030 ag tractor. What problems or special conditions are there with these machines? Do you have to get parts through the JD industrial dealer, or would the ag dealer stock them? Also, any specification type info would be greatly appreciated.

the 401B compares to a 2440 ..the only difference is the size of rear wheels and some front hubs..i have one that i mow hay with and yes if u have part # you can get them through ag dealers..have had mine for 4 years ..had 1700 hours on it when i bought it...i run a 9 ft khun hd on it..has 62 hp....219 cu in engine..has reverser on it and i love it ..wish all my tractors had them..only problem i had with this one was the rockshaft put in new piston and cyl took care of it...mine had 16.9 28 tires on back...think 24 rims are standard on them...if u have any questions e-mail me...have all manuals for it...have nice day may god bless

I worked in the parts dept. of a JD ag dealer for a short time. I won't be able to answer all your questions but I can tell you what little I know. The ag and ind line share some parts but the ag dealer will not have the software to look up parts for your ind. tractor. If you have a parts catalog he might be able to order some parts. If it wasn't made for the ag tractors your dealer may not even be able to order it through JD, however we would sometimes call up the nearest ind dealer and have them ship us the parts we could not order ourselves.
