I recently bought a John Deere 5020 with cab and loader. The loader hyd is plugged into the remote hyd ports. With this set up I can not use the remotes with out unplugging the loader. Isn't there a different place to run the hyd for the loader?I do have the JD service manual but can't find anything. I'd appreciate any advice.

There is a way to tap into the main hydraulic system, but then you will have to some re-plumbing and buy hydraulic valves. Call Ed Beem at 712-876-2275, he can fix you up, or tell you what you need to do.

I`ve had loaders on 4020`s for years and were always plugged into remotes. There is no other hookup to my knowledge.

This is easily done. You tee into the pressure line coming to the back of the tractor right after the fitting that takes oil to the power steering. Then, you buy from John Deere, or make a ported hyd. oil filter cover and run the return line to that. This way you can use an independent valve for your loader. Just make sure the independent valve is set up for a closed center hyd. system. I have 2 tractors I set up this way.
