Cam and hydraulic pump gear noise

I have a 70 that makes noise at the area where the pump and the cam gear meet.It has done this for over a year and is no worse but certainly no better than it has ever been.Is this a problem for anyone else or just my tough luck?I have thought about taking the pump gear out and trying that.Sometimes it is worse than others and I really don't to disable the hydraulics if I can help it.Any ideas?

Jack, we are going to need a little more information, like what kind of 70 (gas or diesel), what kind of noise (gear, knock, growl, etc), what engine speeds & loads ,hot cold, both, does it change with the pump working?

It is a Gas and the noise is the same with the pump on or off.It kinda growls and knocks,both.The tractor was stuck when I bought it and I had to rebuild all of the engine because it had severe moisture damage.I can touch the pump and feel it right there.Thanks
