How do I find the serial number on my 2010 if the plate has been removed? Anywhere else I can go? My first JD and no serial #!

I am getting conflicting information regarding serial numbers and production year. I have a JD 2010R gas serial #58799. Some say that this particular series was made in 1965, however, all the websites refer to 1964 for the 2010R. Which year this tractor belong to 1964 or 1965? Thanks!!!

No way I know. The only way to narrow it down would be with a parts book and do a little reverse research. The 2010's made some major changes at various serial numbers. For instance: At 42001 and up they changed the steering drag link. At 37871 they changed the speed range shifter pawl. At 42001 they also changed the wiring of the lighting system. At 29000 there were LOTS of changes. the early ones had cartridge oil filters and later went to spin-on type. Gear ratios changed at 29000. This is a tough way to get even close but the only way I can think of.
